Bank of America, title sponsor of the 18th annual Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic, to be held Saturday, September 30 at the Georgia Dome, today announced that it will provide $10,000 scholarships to both Florida A&M University and Tennessee State University, the two schools competing in this year's game.
In its third year as the title sponsor of the Atlanta Football Classic, Bank of America will present $10,000 checks to representatives of the two schools during an on-field pre-game ceremony. Bank of America has a long history of supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities, donating more than $15 million to these schools in recent years.
"Our sponsorship of the Atlanta Football Classic and the additional scholarship funds for each university are strong examples of Bank of America's commitment to the African-American community and Historically Black Colleges and Universities," said Milton Jones, Chief Operating Officer for the Chief Financial Officer organization at Bank of America and chairman of this year's game. "While the game is a significant sports and cultural event, it also serves a greater purpose in providing critical academic and economic support for young people throughout Atlanta."

The Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic is one of the largest African-American sporting events in the country, and one of the largest recurring sports events in Georgia. Presented by 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc., the Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic has generated more than $115 million to the state's economy over the past five years. Proceeds from the game benefit Tennessee State University, in Nashville, TN., Florida A&M University, in Tallahassee, FL., and Project Success, an education and mentoring program founded by 100 Black Men of Atlanta.
Bank of America's partnership with 100 Black Men of Atlanta is a continuation of its commitment to serve the African American consumer. In addition to its sponsorship of the Atlanta Football Classic, Bank of America has also served as a major sponsor of other national events in the African American market, including the T. D. Jakes' Megafest, the National Urban League convention, National Black MBA convention, and the NAACP annual convention.
In addition to sponsorships, Bank of America provides numerous workshops and seminars on such topics as first-time home buying and managing personal assets. The bank also provides education seminars at Historically Black Colleges and Universities on credit and money management.
