The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is reminding renters,
homeowners, non-profit organizations and businesses they have until
OCTOBER 2, 2006 to file disaster loan applications for physical damages
from the severe storms and flooding that occurred June 26 through July
10, 2006.
SBA low-interest disaster loans are available to qualified renters,
homeowners, non-profit organizations and businesses that suffered
damage or losses due to the disaster. Interest rates can be as low as
2.937 percent for homeowners and renters and as low as 4.000 percent
for businesses. Loan terms can be as long as 30 years. Actual loan
amounts and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each applicant's
financial condition.
New York residents, non-profit organizations, and business owners
affected by storms and flooding have now received over $90 million in
approved SBA disaster loans.
Anyone with disaster related damages should register first with FEMA by
calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), then complete and return the SBA loan
application. SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers throughout the New York
declared area are ready to provide assistance.
