New Zealand has been rated the No. 1 country in the world for doing business in 2006 by the World Bank. New Zealand is a member of the OECD and is ranked in the high-income category, with a population of 4 million people. The World Bank ranks the ease of doing business in 155 economies of the world. The index is calculated as the ranking on the simple average of country percentile on each of the 10 topics covered in Doing Business in 2006.
Worldwide, for ease of doing business New Zealand ranked No. 1 in the world; for ease of starting up a business No. 4; Dealing with Licenses No. 2; Hiring and Firing No. 4; Registering Property No. 1; and Getting Credit No. 7.
