SBA Names Pennsylvania Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Pittsburgh area native, Rick Cancelliere, has been named the Small Business Administration’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the District of Pittsburgh and the State of Pennsylvania.

At 25, Cancelliere is already a seasoned entrepreneur who founded his first web design company at the age of 15. He maintained this company through his graduation from Riverside High School in Beaver County, in his hometown of Ellwood City. While putting himself through the University of Pittsburgh’s College of Business Administration, Cancelliere started JDAnthony with his partner Joseph DiFalco, and was a founding member of the Entrepreneur’s Society at Pitt’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

It was the University’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence Associate Director Christine Kush who nominated Cancelliere for the award. In her words, “He’s innovative; he’s a risk-taker; and he doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.” Through the Entrepreneur’s Society, Cancelliere has helped other students nurture their ideas and pass along his entrepreneurial wisdom and energy, as well as bring in speakers and networking opportunities for both students and area entrepreneurs.

JDAnthony, Cancelliere’s current business, is a full-service design and marketing center providing web, print, branding, identity and interactive products and services to a variety of industries. With an ever-growing list of more than thirty clients and five employees, JDAnthony’s many projects vary in breadth from less than $3,000 to more than $50,000.

Cancelliere remains dedicated to Pittsburgh’s business and academic communities through his church, his business, and the IEE’s Entrepreneur Society. He and other area SBA winners received their awards on May 17th at the Westin Convention Center Hotel in Pittsburgh.
