Sweepstakes Recaps an Exciting Start to the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl
On Sunday, December 2nd,
the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl got fully underway, with the selection
and acceptance by the University of Virginia Cavaliers football team to
represent the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Texas Tech Red Raiders
football team to represent the Big 12 Conference at the 63rd
Gator Bowl Classic. Following the announcement of participating teams,
Gator Bowl Association and Konica Minolta representatives traveled to
each university for the formal announcement ceremonies held on Monday,
December 3rd.
“The
offer of a bid to participate in the 2008 Konica Minolta Gator Bowl is
exciting and is the type acknowledgement that comes from a successful
regular season,” said Virginia athletics director Craig Littlepage.
“The coaching staff and players have done a great job in 2007 showing
their character and work-ethic. Those qualities will again be shown in
the bowl game. Our goal is to get our fans equally excited about the
game and that they will support the team by attending the January 1
game in Jacksonville.”

are excited to accept this invitation to the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl,
which is one of the most prestigious and storied bowl games in college
football history," said Texas Tech Director of Athletics Gerald Myers.
"We are proud of Coach Leach, his staff and our student-athletes for

university in front of a national New Year's Day audience.”
Virginia
(9-3) will be making its second appearance at the Gator Bowl while
Texas Tech (8-4) will be making its fourth appearance in school history.
On Thursday, December 6th,
both schools attended the formal signing ceremony held as part of the
Gator Bowl Association Committee Holiday reception held at the Omni
Hotel in Jacksonville, Florida.
The
2008 Konica Minolta Gator Bowl will take place at Jacksonville
Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida on January 1, 2008. The
game is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. and will be televised
nationally by CBS. The Konica Minolta company name and logo will be
featured prominently in promotional pre-game, in-game and post-game
activities.

The
Konica Minolta Gator Bowl game week will officially begin on Wednesday,
