Georgia Rules on Employing Minors

In Georgia, no minor between 12 and 16 may work without a certificate of age and fitness issued by the local superintendent of schools or by the principal administrative officer of a private school. A similar certificate is required for persons 16 to 18 to work between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Georgia requires that minors' employment certificates be accompanied by a letter from a school administrator indicating that the minor is enrolled in school full time and has a good attendance record for the current year. The letter must be updated annually and included with the minor's employment certificate in the minor's employment file.
