Head taxes

A head tax is a tax that is computed with reference to numbers of people (count the heads!). Within a business setting, head taxes usually take the form of taxes assessed against a business based on the number of its employees. For example, a city may assess a tax of $2.00 per employee for each month he or she is employed by the business.
