Meal and Break Rules in KentuckyNo employer in Kentucky may require any employee to work without a rest period of at least 10 minutes during each four hours worked. This is in addition to the regularly scheduled lunch period. No reduction in the compensation of hourly and salaried employees may be made for time spent in rest periods. Employers must grant their employees a reasonable period for lunch, which must be as close to the middle of the employee's scheduled work shift as possible. In no case may an employee be required to take a lunch period sooner than three hours or later than five hours after the work shift starts. Effective July 11, 2006, a mother has the right to breastfeed her child or express breast milk in any place she has the right to be. |
