Paying Terminated Employees in Louisiana

In Louisiana, employees who are discharged must be paid within three days at the usual place for payment or by mail; if not paid, wages will continue at the employee's regular rate for up to 90 days from time of demand — until paid. Employees who resign must be paid on or before the next regular payday or no later than 15 days following the date of resignation, whichever occurs first. This does not apply in the case of a collective bargaining agreement providing for an alternate payment date for employees who resign.
