Paying Terminated Employees in MinnesotaIn Minnesota, discharged employees must be paid in full immediately upon demand; employees who quit must be paid within five days, or within 24 hours if five days' notice is given. Wages must be paid at the place of employment unless the employee requests that they be mailed, in which case payment is deemed made on the date postmarked. If the employee handles money and property, 10 secular days are allowed to audit accounts before final wages are due. In case of failure to pay as required, regular rate of pay continues until paid up to 15 days. These provisions do not apply to farm laborers, bankrupt employers, receivers or trustees appointed by the court. Migrant workers must be paid within five days of the date of a quit or discharge. Wages for striking workers must be paid on the next regular payday. |
