Paying Terminated Employees in New Hampshire

Discharged employees in New Hampshire must be paid within 72 hours. Employees who quit and strikers must be paid the next regular payday, except that if an employee gives at least one pay period's notice of intention to quit, payment must be made within 72 hours. If an employer willfully and without good cause fails to pay wages to an employee who has been discharged, an employee who has quit, an employee who has been laid off, or an employee who is involved in a labor dispute, such employer will be additionally liable to the employee for liquidated damages in the amount of 10 percent of the unpaid wages for each day except Sundays and legal holidays upon which such failure continues after the day upon which payment is required or in an amount equal to the unpaid wages, whichever is smaller.
