Restrictions on Firing Employees in Wisconsin

Wisconsin laws make it unlawful for an employer to fire employees who testify in minimum wage proceedings; interfere with employees' political activities or not permit time off to vote; require an employee to take a polygraph test; fire employees because of jury service; fire for union activity; deny equal employment opportunity; retaliate against an employee for filing a workers' compensation claim, testifying in a wage proceeding, or opposing unfair employment practices; or fire for exercising rights to access personnel files or to take family leave; violate protections for veterans or reservists; or fire an employee for having wages withheld for child support or other garnishment.
