Personal Income Tax in GeorgiaApril 13, 2006
Georgia imposes a personal income tax on your federal adjusted gross income with certain adjustments. For singles, the tax rates range from 1 percent (net income not over $750) to 6 percent (net income over $7,000). For married persons filing joint returns and heads of household, rates range from 1 percent (net income not over $1,000) to 6 percent (net income over $10,000). For married persons filing separate returns, the rates apply to one-half of the income brackets used for married persons filing jointly. So, if you are operating your business as an S corporation, partnership, limited liability company (LLC), or sole proprietorship, you may be subject to a personal income tax on your business income that is not taxed at the corporate level, but instead passes through to you. |
