Personal Income Tax in Missouri

If you are a resident or nonresident of Missouri and receive taxable income individually from property owned or business transacted in Missouri, you are subject to tax on net income. Therefore, if you are operating your business as an S corporation, partnership, limited liability company, or sole proprietorship, you will be subject to a personal income tax on your business income that passes through to you. In addition, local governments in Missouri are authorized to levy a local income tax, so be sure to check with your local government.

The following rates apply to the amount of income over the exempted amount:

Taxable Income Amount of Tax
Over $0 but not over $1,000 1.5%
Over $1,000, but not over $2,000 $15 plus 2.0% of excess over $1,000
Over $2,000, but not over $3,000 $35 plus 2.5% of excess over $2,000
Over $3,000, but not over $4,000 $60 plus 3.0% of excess over $3,000
Over $4,000, but not over $5,000 $90 plus 3.5% of excess over $4,000
Over $5,000, but not over $6,000 $125 plus 4.0% of excess over $5,000
Over $6,000, but not over $7,000 $165 plus 4.5% of excess over $6,000
Over $7,000, but not over $8,000 $210 plus 5.0% of excess over $7,000
Over $8,000, but not over $9,000 $260 plus 5.5% of excess over $8,000
Over $9,000 $315 plus 6.0% of excess over $9,000
