The following information will help you get to the department you need to contact. The Department of Taxation and Finance is the chief tax administration agency in New York. It is divided into four divisions one of which is the Division of Taxation. The Division of Taxation is divided into:

  • The Corporation Tax Bureau which covers franchise taxes.
  • The Income Tax Bureau which administers and collects the New York personal income tax.
  • The Sales Tax Bureau which administers and collects the sales and use tax.

The Secretary of State administers and collects the corporate organization and qualification fees of domestic corporations. To contact the Division of Corporations, call 518-473-2492.
