One of the most important parts of paying your workers is making sure you're in compliance with the many federal and state laws that regulate the paying of employees. The main law that affects paying employees is a federal law known as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). There are seven main aspects to the FLSA that you need to know about and comply with:

• which employees are covered by the FLSA
• minimum wage
• overtime pay
• child labor
• equal pay for equal work
• posting requirements
• recordkeeping requirements
