Running a personal or small business can be very lucrative or expensive depending on how you may budget yourself. There are ways to upgrade that business with very low cost. An upgraded or improved business could mean improved revenue. Here are a few ideas to help you accomplish your goals without spending too much.

Upgrade Your Tech Equipment

Upgrading your existing IT equipment makes financial sense. Instead of throwing away your office computers, you could upgrade the memory or even replace the existing hard drive with a more efficient one. If you absolutely have to replace any of your IT equipment, then sell your old equipment for salvage value and make sure that your new equipment can serve more than one purpose.

Recycle and Repurpose

Any scrap metal that is lying around can be recycled or re-purposed. Delegate a space for your employees to collect scrap metal of all types and once a week or month, take them to the recycling plant. This will save you the money that it would cost you to discard and also put more money in your pocket. If you can figure out a new purpose for the scrap metal, that’s even better.

Be Unique

Your business may have many competitors; however, find a way that makes yours a standout. For instance, if your business is automotive repair, then have a waiting room for customers that would like to wait, providing it is a small repair that can be done within thirty minutes or less. Have some complimentary beverages, good reading material, and comfortable furniture. Above all, ensure that it is clean. Your customers will tell others about their positive experience and your customer base will expand.

Automate some processes

Automation of common processes can decrease expenses. For instance, paying someone to hand write invoices is a waste of time and resources. Implementing invoice procedures using software that eliminates most of the hands on work, after the initial outlay, will be much more efficient in costs and time management. In addition, there are many accounting application software that you could use that already have internal controls in place. Also, this will free your employees for more important duties.

Customer Service

Excellent customer service will cost you nothing, but the rewards are great. Have a customer appreciation day every quarter and give out tiny flashlights, notebooks, etc. with your logo on them. your customers will love them and you get free advertising. If you treat your customers with caring and respect, the word of mouth from satisfied customers will increase your business tenfold or more. Customers love to feel special, so treat each one like they are your favorite.
