Just because your small business is small doesn't mean you don't have to work hard at reinforcing your brand. If anything, it means you may need to work harder at it.

You want to get a recognizable brand out there, and you've got a few ways to do it. Some may take a little more work, but the payoff is there.

Remember, your brand is your business identity, and you want to clearly convey that to your customers and the external world.

As the following article looks at, “These 8 simple things will reinforce your small business' brand online”.

See what will work for you and soon your brand will be getting the attention you want:

  1. Clearly define your brand - Make sure you know where your business is coming from and who you're trying to reach. Your product probably isn't for EVERYONE, so don't to reach them all.

  2. Connect emotionally - When you are working your brand via social media or your website - connect with your customer's emotions. That means put a little humanity into your brand. Show your heart.

  3. Build relationships - This means engage and connect with your customers. You can do this via social media by responding to comments, asking for photos of followers with products and writing engaging content.

  4. Be unique - Don't just copy what the big brands are doing, find your space and own it. Sure, you can get ideas and see what the big guys are doing, but grow yourself in a unique way. You have a unique identity, go with that and let it shine.

  5. Be consistent with posting - Update your social media pages consistently. Don't go too long without posting, but also don't over-post. You want to become a familiar fixture in your followers/customers social media world without bombarding them with posts.

  6. Be consistent across platforms - Along with consistent posting, you want to make sure all of your social media platforms have the same feel and visual approach. Maybe it's all black and white, or you always write in a certain font, whatever it is may be, let it cross social media platforms so you keep the same look and feel wherever your customers are seeing you. This even pertains to print media.

  7. Personalize - If you are an Internet company that delivers products, wrap your products in a personalized way. Maybe you always use a certain ribbon or you include a handwritten thank you. Your customers will notice the little details and appreciate them. You can include an "extra," like a sticker or postcard. Keep these little details in line with your brand.

  8. Make it fun - Go outside the box and have a fun quote on your receipt (both paper and virtual) that depicts your brand, or on your packaging/website. Don't be afraid to step away from tradition to fun up your brand. Everything doesn't have to be the same.

A big part of branding is being unique and standing out from the crowd.

Whether your brand depicts Southern Preppy, Rock and Roll Rough and Tumble, Soft and Delicate or Take Charge, go with it, own it and let it cover your small business.

You'll be noticed.
