Walking through a quaint or stunning Main Street is always a treat. Whether it’s in your hometown, or in a new place, seeing a town from its bet angle is usually achieved on Main Street. As the owner of a business on a main stretch, you have a duty to your customers, old and new, to provide a charming storefront that draws them in. It’s great for business and should be part of your marketing effort to include more customers in your appeal and brand.

Incorporate the Building's Appeal
Residents who have lived in the community for quite some time likely know the history that is hiding in the walls of your business. Take them back to cherish days of their youth by playing up the historical appeal of the building. If, for example, the grounds were the site of a historical event, you can include a sign outside explaining this information. Places like Sullivan Engineering can even work with you to improve your storefront design. They do historical preservation and city buildings and can work with you and your town to play up the preservation of your own store.

Keep the Space Tidy
When your building is a bit more run-down, people likely start questioning the safety and quality of the products or services that you offer. If the space is in serious disarray, you may want to opt for professional cleaning services. On the other hand, a power wash of the exterior and the windows may be what it takes to provide customers with greater peace of mind. Do what you can to make the indoor space appear new and fresh, while still holding true to historical ideals outside.

Work with the Seasons
People often love to see signs of the seasons when they stroll through the main street in their neighborhoods. Decorate the store windows for the holidays to help them feel more at home and to emulate a stronger curb appeal. You may also want to incorporate products that relate to the current season.

Offer Outdoor Seating
If you are the owner of an eatery, consider the benefits of outdoor seating. You will now have more space you can use generate more business. Also, when it is warmer outside, plenty of people want to eat outdoors, so you are meeting the needs of this particular audience.

Choose Appropriate Signage
Selecting the right signs can help interested parties to know what your store has to offer. Make sure the sign fits with the vibe of the community though. For example, bright neon lights on a prodigious and urban looking sign are likely to disrupt the feel of a quaint neighborhood. You can also use your signs to let interested parties know about discounts, deals, and specials that your shop is currently offering.

When you walk down the main street in your own community, you likely expect a certain atmosphere. Bring that same atmosphere to the people who live where you work.
