Any honest entrepreneur will tell you that the hardest part of running a start up business is getting a customer base and offering a product that everyone wants. Luckily, as technology continues to advance, there are more ways now than ever to get customers not only to buy your product but also to become familiar with what it is that you're offering. Here are some tips on how to use business intelligence (or BI) software to help gain new customers for business startups.

Social networking

If you aren’t using social networking for your business startup, you are missing out on a very influential marketing tool. One of the best parts about most social networks is that they are free and all it takes is signing up and finding people you know to help spread the word and generate buzz about your company. What’s even better is that if you are willing to spend money on these social media sites, you can promote your business even further and make sure that people know about your product. Social media is also great because people, who have relied on your services before, will talk about you on their own wall or profile, which is available for all of their friends and followers to see.

Social media is also a great way to find out what people are talking about when it comes to products/services offered. Entrepreneurs know that even with all of the great inventions available, there are still plenty of desirable things that haven’t been made yet. By listening to people on social media sites, you can find out what it is that people are missing out on and you can target this towards your new customers.

Analytics

Aside from having multiple social media pages, a startup business should also have a website. Again, many small businesses and startup companies have yet to implement a webpage, and this can truly be detrimental when clients look online to find out more information. Analytics is BI software that shows business owners who is coming to their website, how long they are staying on it, what they are looking at, where they are coming from, and much more. This is extremely helpful as a business owner determines how to tailor their website towards their customer base.

Pick Up The Phone

With the ease and convenience of using our smartphones to write texts and send emails, it seems as if actually picking up the phone and calling someone has become an extinct idea. That said, people still appreciate being called and knowing that you are interested in them. By calling your clients, you will set yourself ahead of other businesses that simply email or text.

This works on the other end too. If your customers call you, be sure to answer. Don’t hit ignore and let voicemail pick up, only to be followed up with a text or email. Give your customers the attention they deserve.

Have An Event

Sometimes businesses have grand openings or other spectacular events to get people aware of their services. However, this isn’t always necessary and some start-ups don’t have the money to put these on. However, business owners who think outside the box to put together an event can see returned benefits. For example, help feed the homeless and invite customers to come help out. You’d be surprised by the amount of people who are looking for community service options; and they will feel good knowing that you are a thoughtful company who helps people.

Use Your Employees

Happy employees usually mean happy customers. After all, while business owners are in the back working on the company from a business aspect, employees are the ones on the floor dealing with customers on a daily basis. Having happy employees will add to the loyalty your customers have for your company. Furthermore, if your employees are happy to work for you, they will be sure to post about you on their own social media sites, expanding your marketing reach even further.

Give something away

If you have enough stock and inventory to give away an item, do so. Customers will enjoy sampling your product and like the fact that they can do so for free. Furthermore, if they enjoy the product, they will make an effort to purchase it on a routine basis. Giving away items can be costly to your start up business at first, but reap benefits in the long run.

Conclusion

Having a startup business can be difficult without a limitless amount of funding. That said, business owners have to work intelligently to promote their company and their product. By using these tips here, you can set yourself apart from other business startups and keep working your way towards success.
