A lot of us get frustrated from a single thought about 6-hour working day from nine to five in an office in despondency. After unsuccessful experience we start seeking another job, house-work for example. But before quitting your job and saying final “good bye” to your boss and co-workers, reconsider the reasons of why you change your work giving a preference to home-work. Here are some reasons both to stay at home and start your own business or stay at the office and continue working in the atmosphere of despondency.

Working at the company, you get your salary no matter when you put a monthly report on your boss’s table or were you or were you not successful in handling the contract. At home you can not get rid of the thought that time is money and every cup of coffee drunk during the break or a slight conversation with a friend gives another reason for self-accusation.

Working at home, you get freedom that you’ve dreamed of quite a while and only you initiate ways or strategies of advancement. But there is a drawback: from now on you have to pay your international phone bills and save fax paper. Finally you are the boss and have nobody to give unnecessary critics, but there is also nobody to guide you through the process and therefore it is harder to spot mistakes. You don’t have to sit from nine to five anymore and nobody gives you stupid directions that you have already learned by heart. Working at home makes it difficult to work out a stable schedule and progress proportionally to the time spent on it.

Along with the above mentioned, you’ll have to take on a lot of new responsibilities like financing, directing and managing, that you have never done before. Being a team member you had a narrow range of duties and worked in your field only. Being a home-worker you don’t have to listen to confessions of co-workers and rumors anymore but home-work brings loneliness and isolation along and lack of communication is obvious. You don’t have to worry about casual clothes any more, but if a force majeure happens, you’ll be in a delicate situation. Working at home, you don’t have to worry about transportation and time wasted on it, but sitting in four walls will not do any good either. A person has to socialize and go out to have fun otherwise it may be quite traumatic.

If you still insist on working at home for some reason here are some hints on how to make your business successful. Have a t least your separate office. Separation of territories belonging only to you and to your business is very important. For example, when you enter your bedroom, all the papers, contracts and even thoughts about business should be left behind. There should be an area that business can not penetrate.

Establish a separate telephone line and set your equipment in a single room that will be your office and all work will stay here. And the last but not least point is to explain to your family and friends what you are doing. Usually home business causes quite different reaction. Some think that it is impossible to work at home and be successful as a social figure.

Frankly speaking for the public the main question is not who you are but what you are. Explain that just because you set up an office at home your availability time has increased, you are still involved in some serious matters and you are not to be disturbed for a period of time. Such businesses as freelance writing, copywriting services, journalistic research, and writing can be performed at home.

Everything depends on the following: whether you are able to handle content writing, editing, financing and managing at the same time. If that is what you are determined to do, good luck with your future career.
