NEW YORK - Small businesses on the East Coast that want to network multiple PCs on a single DSL (digital subscriber line) circuit or download or send large files can now do so at greatly reduced rates.

Verizon Online has lowered by 35 to 60 percent the price of its two highest-capacity business DSL packages for customers from Maine to Virginia.

Verizon Business DSL at speeds of up to 7.1 Mbps (megabits per second) downstream and 768 Kbps (kilobits per second) upstream with Dynamic IP is now $79.95 a month, down from $204.95 a month, and Verizon Business DSL with Static IP at those speeds is now $149.95 a month, down from $234.95 a month. The connection speeds are almost 10 times as fast as the entry-level up to 768 Kbps speed service offered to consumers and businesses.*

"We believe our new prices will attract small and medium businesses that want more speed and the capability to network multiple computers, for example in branch offices, or that send or receive large files and graphics," said Matthew Trammel, product manager for Verizon Business DSL. "The up to 7.1 Mbps service helps any business improve the flow of information. It facilitates streaming video for product demonstration or training sessions. Our Static IP service is an ideal business solution for videoconferencing, Web hosting or mail servers and for running Web cameras."

The new prices are effective today. As part of the installation process, Verizon Online provides a professional service technician to set up the service. For a limited time in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Maine, the price of the technician visit for Verizon Business DSL will be reduced to $49.95 for new orders of either Verizon Online's 3.0 Mbps Standard; or 7.1 Mbps speed services. New customer will save close to 75 percent off on a technician visit.

Qualifying Dynamic IP and Static IP business DSL packages include Internet Security Suite for one PC, unlimited remote dial-up access, and a choice between three domain name business e-mail accounts or ten Verizon.net e-mail accounts, to name some of the features.

The price reduction is a result of Verizon Online's commitment to find new ways to support its business customers, to improve services and to provide the best value in broadband. These reduced prices also reflect regulatory reforms adopted by the Federal Communications Commission that provide greater flexibility and regulatory certainty as Verizon serves medium and small-business customers.

The new reduced prices for these packages are only available by calling 888-649-9500, the Verizon Business DSL sales and service center.

Verizon Business DSL offers a variety of packages with different maximum connection speeds and features tailored specifically for the needs of each business owner starting as low as $24.95. A one-year contract is required. For more information visit http://www.verizon.com.

* NOTE: Actual (throughput) speeds will vary based on numerous factors, including network and Internet congestion and the speed of Web sites you visit.
