Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM), a global leader in data storage and protection, today announced the new Iomega(R) Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive, a 2TB* drive powered by four hot-swappable SATA hard drives with hardware-based RAID security features, giving users a cost-effective but powerful storage solution for the large data and image files created in today's business environment.

A total solution featuring high capacity, high performance, a versatility in connections, redundant data security choices and backup software, the new Iomega Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive allows business professionals to easily expand their current storage capabilities and archive important files all in a single device.

"Small businesses and other professionals today need smart, cost-effective storage solutions that can meet their growing need for data storage, protection and archiving," said Ashley Ettwein, HDD product manager, Iomega Corporation. "The new Iomega Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive delivers on that need with up to two terabytes of storage capacity with true hot-swappable drives and data redundancy options that can save an organization's data from being lost, as well as minimize downtime when critical files aren't available."

A Versatile Drive for Windows and Mac Environments

The new Iomega Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive is Windows and Mac compatible, including the new Windows Vista(TM) operating system. The Power Pro has versatile performance with a choice of computer connections: FireWire(R) 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0, resulting in blazing transfer rates of up to 70MB/sec.

RAID security options on the Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive include RAID 0 for maximum capacity and speed, RAID 0+1 for striping and mirroring data across the hard drives for data redundancy, as well as RAID 5 and RAID 5+ spare for a great balance between performance and data protection. RAID security is a key feature on the Power Pro that minimizes downtime and lack of data retrieval and availability should a drive fail to operate normally.

The Power Pro's four 500GB** SATA drives are arrayed in a stylish tower, with each drive secured in a bay that can be locked. (Two keys are included.) A Kensington lock can be used to anchor the tower to the user's desktop.

For ease-of-use and maintenance, the new Iomega Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive has an LCD panel that displays the current status for RAID level and available storage capacity, as well as fan and temperature condition.

Backup Software Included With New Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive

Iomega believes in worry-free backup and disaster recovery, which is why the award-winning EMC(R) Retrospect(R) Express software is included with the new Iomega Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive. Retrospect Express delivers automated, reliable, cost-effective protection for Windows(R) and Mac(R) users, making it easy to set up and manage highly efficient backups on any personal computer, greatly simplifying disaster recovery. Users can back up open files, verify backup integrity during the backup, have scheduled backups proceed even without logging in, and recover individual files or a complete system to any point in time.

Operating System Compatibility

The Iomega(R) Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive is compatible with Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000, Windows XP Home and XP Professional editions, as well as all Windows Vista editions. The Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive is also compatible with Mac(R) OS X 10.2.8 or later on Apple(R) computers with an Intel Core Duo processor or G3 processor or higher.

Price and Availability

The Iomega(R) Power Pro Desktop Hard Drive is expected to be available worldwide on April 10 for $1,699.95. (Pricing is U.S. suggested retail.)
