Syncura announces a new collaboration product to help virtual teams and
small businesses manage shared documents. Syncura brings a new level of
security and privacy to sharing documents over the Internet with its
peer to peer technology that does not store documents on a third party
server.
"Because files are not stored on a server, the amount of data you can
share is only limited to the amount of disk space on your computer,"
said Tim Weiler, founder of Syncura. "Syncura also solves your backup
problem, because each file is stored on each person's computer. There
is no single point of failure."
Many small businesses don't have the resources to maintain their own
server and VPN (virtual private network) and are not comfortable
storing their files on a website. During its beta period, Syncura
helped many small companies with distributed offices gain access to
their shared files and keep them synchronized. Building private,
invitation-only document workspaces is now a viable alternative to VPNs
and third party online hosted solutions.
Online hosted document sharing solutions can cost a distributed
five-person company thousands of dollars a year to store all their
data. Syncura is a fraction of the cost because it allows a small team
company to combine their existing assets with the power of the Internet
to store and access their data.
Large corporations have IT departments to manage and maintain remote
access systems. Now small businesses can have remote access to their
work files as well. Individuals can use Syncura to sync files and
folders between their computer at work and at home. Documents changed
at home are securely sent to their work computer and vice versa.
Thousands signed up for the beta version released in March 2006.
Version 1.5 is now commercially available and was released just in time
for the holidays.
Syncura (http://www.syncura.com) provides automatic document sharing
for business users and mobile professionals through its secure
synchronization technology. Its solutions allow for teams to always
have the latest version of their shared documents instantly available.
