Seminar Information to Celebrate 25th Year at Tavern on the Green

May 16, 2006; 06:02 AM

IRVINE, Calif. - In an era when 85 percent of small businesses fail in the first five years, Seminar Information Service, Inc. (SIS) is proud to announce that it is turning 25 this month with a lavish, gala celebration at the dazzling Tavern on the Green in New York City, where it all began!

In a classic entrepreneurial story of seeing a need and filling it, co-founders Catherine Bellizzi and Mona Piontkowski started compiling their vast compendium of seminar information in New York in May of 1981 when no such directory existed. All they had back then was a kitchen table, two portable typewriters, and a dream. Pepsi-Cola was the first company to buy their workbook of seminars, and soon the SIS Workbook was in the offices of every Fortune 500 corporation, every IRS office, the NY Times, at Tiffany & Company, and even the White House.

In 1998 as technology progressed, SIS switched to a CD version of the Workbook and then, in 1999, created the most comprehensive database of seminars on the Internet. Today, SeminarInformation.com (http://www.SeminarInformation.com) lists nearly 400,000 business and technical seminars and workshops and is used by everyone from individual seminar-goers to the Supreme Court.

"We have always taken registrations for seminars, so it was a natural progression from our Workbook and CD to the Internet," says Seminar Information President Catherine Bellizzi. "We are happy that our website represents the best that the Internet has to offer: free access to our ever-expanding catalog of seminar information and e-commerce for users to enroll in the seminars they find right on the spot in a safe, secure environment."

Those seeking training or continuing education can simply go to http://www.SeminarInformation.com and search by keyword, state, city, or date range and find the perfect fit for their training needs. Or they can call Seminar Information. "With 25 years of experience in the business, we know the seminar industry inside out," says Ms. Bellizzi. "Visitors to our site can call on this extensive knowledge to find exactly what they need."

The 25th anniversary of Seminar Information Service, Inc. takes place on the 20th of May, which coincidentally is National Small Business Month.
