Do you remember when people used to say “The internet will someday be everyone’s number one source for information. It is the information highway.”

We didn’t all understand how intuitive that statement was until now. I began to understand when computers replaced the set of encyclopedias that every student needed in their home. Not only is the Internet the information highway but it has become the information street as well. We now order pizza from the restaurant down the street on the internet. When we need a plumber more and more people are letting their fingers do the walking on their keyboard instead of the yellow pages.

This large group of customers are being captured by the business that has a web presence with a localized search. A business owner that has discovered the benefit of the pay per click search engine local search is enjoying great returns on his small investment. There are many other avenues for local business as well. A rise in classified ad local search sites and online yellow pages to name a couple.

With the cost of Web Site design and development costing thousands it was a hard choice for a business owner to allow his competition to access all of the increasing number of web customers that were just down the street.

That choice has just become much easier. With technology increases has come cost decreases with some web developers. A business owner can now have a multi page business class web site for a fraction of the cost they used to pay. There is value added as well. Some developers will optimize the site for search engines and manage the site for a small monthly fee. An owner can reap all the benefits with no worries or web page knowledge needed.

A business owner no longer has to lose the huge internet market of local customers because a web presence is very affordable on the information street local web.
