The American Small Business Coalition Signs 75 New Members Since Beginning of the Year
Columbia, MD and McLean, VA (PRWEB) March 12, 2008 -- The American Small Business Coalition (The ASBC), a private membership organization that provides access to information and relationships for small companies doing business with the United States Government and Government Prime Contractors, today announced that 75 new member companies have joined the organization since January 1st. In just a brief period of time the organization now has more than 340 members and will celebrate its four-year anniversary with a reception on April 23rd. The ASBC helps small companies develop market intelligence specific to the government contracting arena while these companies learn industry best practices. While it is not an advocacy group in the sense of trying to change small business-related policy, it is working to affect a global paradigm shift in how small businesses are perceived in the government sector. Instead of the traditional focus on agency and prime contractor socioeconomic obligations, The ASBC encourages and assists its Members with developing relationships and intelligence based on why the goods and/or services they offer are relevant to the overall mission of the project, program or agency.
"We feel as if our relationship with The ASBC is part of the reason for our success," said Freeport Technologies President and Owner John McGreevy. "Our joining the organization two years ago has resulted in an increased awareness of Freeport in the government sector." Freeport Technologies is the 2008 Cornerstone Principal Sponsor of The ASBC and has been a Member since 2006. In April of 2004, the membership format of The ASBC was launched. The first milestone came in January 2005, when The ASBC facilitated a government/industry introduction which resulted in a new member company receiving an award valued at $25M. Since then, The ASBC is credited by its members with contributing to their receiving more than $1.6B in direct and subcontract awards from government agencies and other contractors. "The industry of government contracting is very active for those companies who choose to learn, invest and engage," said Guy Timberlake, chief visionary and co-founder of The ASBC. "Our activity level is on the rise and that typically translates into opportunities our members must qualify based on the specific go/no-go criteria they apply to their business model. Business in the government sector is all about relationships and developing relationships in the government sector is our business." About The American Small Business Coalition |
