In today's world, running a business remotely is nothing new. The technology exists to make the task easier than ever before, and many people have found success doing so. However, it can be easier if you are using the proper equipment and technology. This article will examine several different technologies worth employing or investing in when operating a business remotely.

1. Satellite Wireless Internet

Satellite internet is a fantastic tool for running a business. The signal strength tends to be strong no matter where you go, provided you have a clear line of sight to the sky. This enables you to work on your business no matter where you are, and to carry the business with you when you travel. Because of this, many people run their business remotely while traveling all over the world, reaching new clients and exploring opportunities they never would have been able to otherwise. The flexibility of satellite wireless internet allows you to do your work outside a traditional office environment.

2. Dropbox

Dropbox is a service that allows you to store information in the cloud and access it from anywhere. This service makes it easy for you to move those spreadsheet files you need from your home computer, and access them from your laptop, tablet, or even a computer at the local library. Dropbox enables file sharing like never before, and makes collaboration between partners easier than ever. A basic account provides up to 10 gigabytes of storage for free, but you can subscribe for a small fee to receive even more storage – up to 250 gigabytes worth.

3. GoToMyPC

Sometimes, when you're on the road, you'll remember that a file you need is stored in only one place – your home computer. That can lead to major problems if you can't get back and access it, but with GoToMyPC, you can access your home computer remotely from anywhere in the world. When you buy the software, you are given a log in and a password. You set up the account, and from that point on you can log into your computer from anywhere in the world and use your access point just like you were sitting in your office at home.

4. GoToMeeting

Much like GoToMyPC, GoToMeeting is a service that enables you to sit in a conference wirelessly. The service is free to use, but if you host a meeting yourself, you will need to sign up. The cost is low, and well worth it – it allows face to face collaboration, sharing of files, presentations, and more between all the parties involved, meaning that the important business meeting you need to have with your investors is still possible – even while you sit in a beach chair in Thailand.

With the proper technology, running a business remotely is a piece of cake. Check out some of these services and determine if they fit your needs
