Business conferences serve many purposes. They are meant to be informational as well as inspirational. Additionally, they bring people together. Knowing this, those who plan conferences need to be cognizant of the fact that location matters.

By bringing your people to a great city, or a place that is conducive to great memories and good times, you'll ensure that conferences are successful to the point that people not only have a great time, but they are also inspired to stay and grow within the company.

New Orleans, Louisiana

When Starbuck's was on the brink of uncertainty in 2008, Howard Schultz made a bold and symbolic move. He decided to bring 10,000 people to the city of New Orleans to help them see how much he valued them.

The city responded not only by transforming for their visitors, but they bent over backwards to do so. Not only does New Orleans have amazing food, but it has a flavor all its own between its history, hospitality, and open doors.

National Parks

For those who want to get away from the cityscape, any one of the US national parks is a great choice. Not only can it save money, but the feeling of unplugging can be freeing.

By stepping away from our natural environment we can approach problems from a different perspective and even come up with new ideas. Additionally, camping is a great way to enhance relationships because a big part of the process is working together.

Quebec City, Quebec

This city on a hill provides incredible food, great history, and very friendly locals. By coming together in new places and experiencing new things, teams can form memories that last.

By adding the exotic elements of this bilingual city with unmatched beauty, conferences can be educational in the focus of an industry as well as in one's life. And, if you plan on road tripping to this great destination, you can stay at awesome motels on the way there, like Best Canadian Motor Inns, which will allow you to really get a true feel for the culture.

Myrtle Springs, Texas

For those who want to get away from it all without officially roughing it, there's Myrtle Springs. Located in between Dallas and "First Monday" there are many bonuses to hosting an event here.

First Monday is a flea market where marketing specialists travel from all over the world to seek out trends and habits in small town America. Additionally, it's a lot of fun. Not only are Nashville's upcoming stars known to perform, but it may be the only place one can get a leg of lamb and a helicopter ride in the same place!

Lastly, Myrtle Springs has the prestige of being the location of several scenes in the hit comedy Celebrity Team 6, which locals took in great stride and welcomed their guests with open arms.

There are so many great places to host a business conference. The key is to figure out what your theme and purpose is. After all, national parks are great for intimate groups while small towns can easily handle up to 100 guests. For larger groups, cities are best.
