If you run a small business, then you already know how important it is to take advantage of the holiday shopping season.

From Black Friday sales to New Year's discounts, there are tons of opportunities to increase your sales during the holidays.

Here are just a few ways your small business can make the most of the holiday season:

Take Advantage of Major Sales Opportunities

The holidays are filled with a seemingly unending number of sales.

From Black Friday to Cyber Monday to last-minute New Year's sales, there are plenty of opportunities for your small business to get in the holiday sales spirit.

In order to increase your sales this holiday season, do your best to join in on all the major holiday sales. Even if you're only putting a limited amount of inventory on sale, jumping on the holiday sales bandwagon will help you gain marketing traction.

When you're able to market your small business alongside major department stores and other online retailers, it helps increase exposure for your brand. You can even make up your own sales to help increase exposure.

Having a "One Week Until Christmas Sale" and offering enticing sales perks like free shipping will definitely boost your sales numbers.

Focus on Marketing Holiday Content

Even if your small business doesn't take part in holiday deals and discounts, you can still take advantage of holiday sales opportunities. By including holiday-themed content in your marketing materials, you can better grab the attention of holiday shoppers.

For example, you can share an article on five Thanksgiving leftover ideas or provide potential customers with gift-wrapping tips.

Including lists, tips, and other holiday information in your marketing materials will increase traffic to your site.

Just make sure your holiday marketing materials have a call to action that directs all of that traffic back to your small business.

Promote Your Brand on Social Media

During the holidays, consumers turn to social media to connect with the family and loved ones they're unable to share the holidays with. As a result, social media usage skyrockets, which gives your small business a unique marketing opportunity.

By focusing your marketing sights on social sites like Facebook and Instgram, you can reach a massive audience.

Whether you post holiday sales updates, host a social holiday contest, or share photos of your discounted holiday merchandise, social media is a great way to get your brand in front of the holiday masses.

Be Consistent

No matter which marketing route you take, it's important to be consistent with your outreach efforts. During the holidays, there is a ton of competition out there from all kinds of businesses including retailers and big box stores.

If you want to stay in the spotlight and on the minds of consumers, then you need to market your brand throughout the holiday season.

For example, if you're taking part in a Black Friday sale, send out sale reminders weeks before Thanksgiving, the week of Thanksgiving, and even Thanksgiving Day. By doing so, consumers won't forget about your small business during the holiday rush.

When it comes to marketing your brand, remember that the holidays are no small business.
