Brochures are useful tools that any business can use in its marketing plan. They are especially useful when setting up at trade shows or for sending in the snail mail. Businesses could also include brochures at their bricks-and-mortar locations in order to market new products or services to existing customers. You can use these four strategies for designing informative business brochures and attracting the attention of your target audience.

Offer Easy to Understand Graphs and Charts

A person who is looking at a promotional or informational brochure about the products or services offered by your company wants to absorb the information quickly. This means that your brochure needs to have a design that is easy to skim over. One simple way to do this is with charts and graphs. A chart can be used to highlight the advantage of using a service. For example, if you own a house cleaning company, you might include a chart about how much time your services save your customers. Graphs are also helpful. Remember to include a label on both the X and Y axes and ensure that your charts or graphs are understandable and meaningful.

Use Color Printing to Draw Attention Where Needed

Color printing allows you to draw attention to where it is needed in a brochure. You could use color in the text, as a way of putting emphasis on a particular word or phrase. Some companies, like Alphagraphics in Sandy, Ut, know that color is especially useful when it comes to including images in a brochure. With full-color images, your brochure will convey a great deal more detail than it could with black and white images or no images at all. Color images allow you to highlight different products or show the difference that a service offered by your company makes to your customers. For example, if you make shirts in a variety of colors, use the color images to show your full array of products.

Try an Infographic Rather Than Dense Text

Consider using an infographic in your brochure. The information included in an infographic is easier to understand when compared with a dense block of text used to explain a chart or graph. Infographics allow you to take advantage of the human preference to see patterns and trends with graphics or pictures rather than numbers. You can also use them to make sense of a large amount of data so that people who have no technical expertise can still understand what is going on. Some useful types of infographics include printed weather reports, color-coded subway maps and time series. The human brain can process pictures all at once, but it must process words and numbers in a linear fashion.

Include Colorful Images of Products and Services

When you want to attract the attention of consumers, use colorful images of products and services in your brochures. Choose images that show different views of an item. If you are a business that makes cakes, a view of the cake from the side and the top, along with zoomed-in views of special touches such as edible flowers, showcases some of the best of your work. If you are a gardening company, show before and after images of flower beds or front yards. People will be able to get an idea of the quality of your products or services with the images.

Each of these four helpful tips gives you ideas of how to use a brochure to inform consumers and attract them to your business. Consider working with a graphic designer or illustrator to make your brochures. With plenty of color and images, your brochures will be certain to capture the attention of potential customers.
