Setting up a new office space requires careful planning in order to affordably furnish your work space and maximize its usefulness. Follow these five steps in order to get the most out of your new office space.

Step 1: Analyze the Structure of the Space

Consider the placement of any doors and windows in the space, as well as the overall shape of the room. Take notice of how high the ceilings are and the location of electrical outlets. Find out which areas will require extra lighting and storage. These features will determine the overall layout of the room and should be considered before taking any further action.

Step 2: Make a Plan

Once you have analyzed the space, make a plan for the arrangement of furniture and individual work spaces. Lay the room out so that there is a clear path from the entry to each part of the room and that there are plenty of walking paths between desks and equipment. Office supplies and equipment that will be used often should be placed near desks for ease of access, while things used less often can be kept within walking distance.

Step 3: Shop for Furniture and Supplies

Once you have made a plan, it is time to purchase furniture for your new office space. Used office furniture in Boise is great for inexpensively furnishing your space. Most used office furniture is in great shape and costs much less than brand new pieces. It is also an environmentally-friendly approach to setting up your new office space since it cuts down on unnecessary waste.

Step 4: Place Furniture and Equipment

Arrange the office furniture according to your plan. Place moving pads underneath the legs of heavy tables and cabinets to prevent damage to the floor and to make moving your furniture easier. If possible, assemble large furniture pieces at or near the location where they will be placed to reduce the amount of furniture that has to be moved.

Step 5: Make Adjustments

Once you have used your new office space for a while, consider making adjustments to the layout. By testing your office layout and working within it, you will be better able to pinpoint any problem areas and make adjustments accordingly.

An office space should be affordable, comfortable and efficient. By following these steps, you will have a great new office layout that maximizes productivity and improves the well being of those working within the space.
