International Internet MarketingPutting your website not only in the US Internet market but in Internet markets internationally Esther C Kane
I can’t imagine that in today’s economy and uncertain times, companies throughout the United States are looking for ways to work in the International realm. After all, English is NOT the only language you know! So, how does it get done? How can a company in South Florida selling Skin Cap products, sell them to someone in Indiana, someone in Brazil and someone in China? Here are my thoughts… 1) There are domain names that are specific to countries. Brazil would be .br, .cn is China. But does owning a domain name with the countries’ extension really mean you’ll be more noticed? I don’t know? I went to China’s largest search engine, Baidu.com and typed in “seo marketing” and I got a variety of domains’ extensions, not just .cn. So, I’m just not sure if it’s worth the expense to purchase multiple country domain names. 2) Cost of shipping will have to be altered in the shopping carts to include these other countries. Many companies online don’t have international fees on their shopping carts. At least that’s what I’ve noticed. 3) What about customer service? I suppose it could be managed strictly via email (using a translator tool) but will that turn customers off if there’s no phone support? What if there’s no local address and phone number? Will that turn customers away? 4) Of course, to offset the increase shipping price and increased inconvenience of customer support, the product / service that the website sells must be very unique to the country or just something so unique that they can’t get anywhere else. So, what do you think? What techniques have you found useful? I’d love to hear from you. |
