Avoid These Problems For Your Greeting Cards

The very purpose of greeting card printing is to introduce yourself to new people. After all, you are greeting them to take a look at your company, so why am I coming across so many greeting cards that do not say enough about the company? Sometimes I get these greeting cards that say almost nothing about the company at all leaving me scratching my head as to who they even are.

The first rule when you meet someone is that you introduce yourself. I am sure everyone tries to do this when talking to someone in person and a greeting card is going to be your way of introducing yourself to your new customers for the first time. View it in the same way you would an in person meeting and try to apply the same kind of rules.

If you tell people who you are first when in person, then why not tell people who you are first when using greeting card printing as well? This is the first, and often a very damaging, problem I have seen with many of the greeting cards that show up in my mailbox.

The next issue is related, though a little different in how it impacts people. This problem is not connecting enough with the people you are trying to talk to. I consider this the second rule for when talking to someone in person. You introduce yourself and then ask them about themselves.

You obviously can only ask so much in a greeting card, but what you can do is mention who you are, and then mention how you can help them. Do not just ask them to buy something, which is another point I will get to shortly, but instead mention ways you think you can connect to them and help make their life a little easier.

Doing something like this works much better when you have a smaller audience that you are sending your greeting cards to, because you will know more about them.

And finally, do not try to use your greeting card to really sell them a lot of things. If you wanted to just promote a sale or push an item than you should get postcards instead. Greeting cards are meant to be a different kind of marketing meant to introduce yourself. You might consider offering them something for free, or mentioning a few of the things you sell that can help them, but you have to be careful about how you phrase things.

The more dignified sounding your greeting card is the more respectful it will seem, and the more it will resonate with your customers. You will have plenty of time with plenty of other marketing to try to get the sale. For the moment if you plan on using greeting cards focus on introducing yourself, and leave everything else for another time.
