We all know how difficult it is to get website traffic. Many small business owners and work from home entrepreneurs feel very frustrated due to lack of prospects or leads for their business. I would like to show you 7 simple steps that you can do to increase traffic to your website. Implementing these steps you will be able to achieve your web business goals.

1.    Optimize your website for high search engine ranking

Using a search engine optimization (SEO) strategy will allow you to take maximum benefit of the search engine web crawlers. You can pay SEO companies for these services or you can do it on your own if you are a technical person. A lot of information is available on the web. You can increase your ranking by using keywords effectively in your web pages. Use keyword research tools to research keywords for your business. You can achieve high ranking for some keywords than with others. You might have to use appropriate tags in your site.

2.    Link Swap with Other Sites

The best way to increase your website ranking is to have links inbound to your site from other sites. Contact sites similar in content to yours and request them for link swaps. What it means is that you will put a link to their site on your web page in return they should do the same. By doing this you will not only gain more traffic to your site but also increase your sites ranking in the search engine results which will drive more targeted prospects to your business.

3.    Advertise your site

You need to have some budget for advertising your site on the web. There are a lot os high traffic sites where you can place banners of your site for a fee. Or you can do pay per click advertising with search engines like google where you bid for a key word and your site will be placed on the top right side of the search engine results. You pay only if some one clicks on your link. You pay only for the website traffic. There are other free ways to get website traffic like using the free click formula of Google Snatch.

4.    Use your website address where ever you can

You may want to include your website address on your email signatures. So it will go to every person you send email to. This is a free ad. You can also add your web address to your signatures in any forums that you use or member of also on your blogs. Make sure to include your website address on all your stationery, business cards, letter heads and printed advertisements. Repeat business and networking is a great way to grow your business.

5.    Provide Rich Content

A sure way to get visitors to your website is to have rich content on your website. By providing useful content and updating it regularly you will be able to draw more people to your site. If you provide great and engaging website people will come back again and again.

6.    Get On Web Directories

Submit your website to web directories which list businesses by category and location. This makes it easier for people to find your business.  This will also give you higher search engine ranking and increase targeted prospects to your business.

7.    Structure Your Site For Easy Navigation

People would love to spend time on a website which is rich in original content and structured in a logical way. If people cannot find their way on your website they will get frustrated and leave.
