For many, the thought of starting their own home business is exciting. Being able to set your own hours, make money-making decisions and having to answer to no one but yourself seems so unrealistic in today's work world. See, the truth is, achieving these things in your life isn't so far fetched. One thing that people must understand is that starting a home business is just like life, it has it's ups and it's downs; but ultimately if you stick with it through the thick and thin,it will be well worth it for you and your family. This article deals with some highs and lows that are commonly associated with starting a home business. Learn how to overcome the bad and celebrate the good.

First things first, deciding to be your own boss should be out of aspiration not desperation. See, when someone is desperate, their decision making and motives are not always clear, which will eventually lead to disaster for you and your business. So before you start to do anything dealing with your own business, make sure that you are willing to give 100% because you will need it.

You may find some negativity along the way. It can come from many places: your family, friends, society, but worst of all, you. This issue is so common because that "oh so successful image" is only found on television or magazine covers. So it is very common for the average Joe wanting to obtain a great level of success, in his own right to hear "you can't do that", "that's not realistic", or "I can't do that". There is a simple solution to this and it is called FOCUS. Remain focused at all times. If you are completely focused on creating a successful business, you won't have time to deal with negative influences.

Start-up capital can discourage even the most ambitious entrepreneur. In many cases, depending on what kind of business you are trying to start, some sort of money needs to be put into it. So what about the guy with super great ideas, has good business sense and is a natural when it comes to marketing; but has little or no money to put into them. There are several options here.

Save up until you have enough to get started- You might have to wait a little longer to start your business, but it'll be worth it later. Don't try to take unnecessary short cuts. Make sure you have everything you need before you start.
Research Grants- Obtaining a business grant or a business loan is not as hard as you may think. If you decide to take this option, be sure to talk to several different agencies before you begin the actual process.
Find some investors (barrow some money)- I would recommend this to anyone that has a close relative or friend that really understands what you are trying to do and truly believes in it. Be sure to let them know that you will pay them back as soon as you can, and maybe throw in some extra perks.

Remember, this is your dream! Stay focused and determined at all times. Be sure to read part 2 of this very informative article where I will discuss the topics of "having to much to do" and "getting off to a slow start"
