Want to increase the amount you sell on eBay and your final sales price?  Then it’s time to “get in the mind” of your buyers and give your customers the kind of buying experience they’re looking for.

While many eBay sellers think a buyer’s decision to make a purchase is solely based on price, the cost of the potential purchase is only part of the equation.  Today’s buyers want more.  And if you want to gain the competitive edge in your category, it’s up to you to provide it to them.

Follow these 5 simple but powerful steps to give your eBay buyers exactly the kind of shopping experience they desire.  They in turn, will reward you with the sale!

1. List with Buy It Now. Increasingly, eBay buyers want the option of making a purchase quickly and not waiting for an auction to end.  While there will always be those who love the process of watching the auction excitement build, offering the option to “Buy It Now” will capture the attention of those buyers who are ready to come in, shop, and move on.  Selling multiples of the same products?  Create both auction format and fixed priced listings for your products.  Track and test to see which listing format sells your products the best!

2. Offer multiple shipping options. When it comes to shipping options, many eBay sellers offer the shipping method that is most convenient for THEM.  A move that hurts sales.  Today’s buyers want the choice of multiple shipping options.   If you and your nearest competitor are selling the same product, and you are the seller offering multiple shipping options, your flexibility will result in your next sale.

3. Grab 'em with a sub-title! The best kept advertising secret on eBay is the sub-title.  For a .50¢ charge, an effective sub-title can grab a buyer’s eyes away from a competitor's listings faster than you can say "click here".  Use your sub-title to tell your customer what is special, unique, exciting or new about the product you are selling.

4. Emphasize Convenience! Speed! Confidence! The power trio of CSC (convenience, speed, confidence) is quickly becoming the standard for what buyers are looking for online.  Spotlight the convenience of shopping with you and your speed of order processing, this in turn will instill confidence in your buyers that YOU are the right shopping choice.  You’ll seal the deal in their mind as they reach to click the Buy it Now button!

5. Make your listings quickly “scannable”. Buyers are busy and don’t have the time to wade through listing descriptions that contain paragraphs and paragraphs of text.  An easily scannable listing (meaning a buyer can scan through your listing description quickly and get a good idea of what you are selling, the features and benefits, etc.) will garner the sale every time over the longer, more verbose listing description.

Implementing these 5 keys strategies will put your listings ahead of the game!  Success in eBay retail is in the detail and you’re sure to be a winner when giving your customers exactly the kind of buying experience they want!
