Opening Your Own Store? 4 Things To Check Before Opening Day

When opening a store, one must have a big first day as it will help the company succeed in the long run. While this may seem obvious and easy to understand, some business owners do not follow this advice. With that being said, here are four things to check before opening day.

Employees

Before opening day, one must have all their employees and schedules in place. All too often, a store will forego this and just start out guessing. This is a monumental mistake as a new company cannot disappoint customers when it does not have enough employees. Furthermore, the employees should receive plenty of training and understand all the procedures and rules. This will help avoid any confusion or mistakes on the first day.

Bathrooms

When a person has a store, they must have functioning and tidy bathrooms. Furthermore, the bathrooms must be clean as many customers will notice this and cringe when it is dirty. Now, the easy way to combat this is to hire a professional cleaning company or have an employee clean the toilet, mop the floor and wipe down the sink. While this is a lot of work, it will go a long way in impressing new clients who have no opinion of the store yet.

Parking Situation

When opening a new store, one will expect a lot of new clients and people milling around. This will cause a parking lot to fill quickly and may alienate some customers. To avoid this and keep clients satisfied, one should understand their parking situation and make changes. For example, some stores will rent an adjacent lot and use a shuttle bus and security guards. Either way, one must prepare for this by having adequate amounts of parking for new customers and employees.

Security

Nothing can spoil the first day more than a break in or stolen goods. This can leave the shop owner out of money and in a sour mood. Luckily, to prevent this from occurring, one can use a reliable security system. Atlanta home security experts suggest that new store owners have cameras installed not only on the inside, but the outside of the store as well. Store owners who use Vivint in Bridgeport CT have found that they are able to deter burglars just because of the physical display of their cameras—as soon as thieves see the cameras, they will move on to the next store.

Without a doubt, one must prepare for the opening process. When doing so tactfully and efficiently, a company can, without serious problems, open the store to the public and see the customers leave satisfied. This is your big chance to get your name out there, and we all know that first impressions have lasting effects, so make sure everything is as close to perfect as possible for opening day.
